Values-in-Action (VIA) Project with Dazhong Primary School (2024)

JULY-AUGUST 2024:
IN-CLASS WORKSHOP FOR P5 COHORT

It is our first year partnering with the CCE Department of Dazhong Primary School, over a 4-week lesson to equip the whole cohort of Primary 5 students for their CCE Lessons. Before they started their VIA Project to show appreciation to the estate cleaners in the Chua Chu Kang Town Council, our facilitators taught them about the migrant worker community, focusing on their challenges and culture. The CCE teachers then concluded the lessons by emphasising the importance of being good neighbours.

The students prepared care packs, containing essentials such as masks, biscuits and drinks; and made heartfelt appreciation cards for the estate cleaners.

We feel proud to give to the community, to give help to all the migrant workers in Singapore. The estate cleaners are the ones that help us ensure our streets are clean. And without the migrant workers, these HDBs also will not be built.

SEPTEMBER 2024:
SHOWING APPRECIATION TO CHUA CHU KANG TOWN COUNCIL CLEANERS

In collaboration with Chua Chu Kang Town Council, 9 Primary 5 students from Dazhong Primary
School distributed appreciation cards and care packs to the estate cleaners in the town.

Saiful, the cleaning supervisor from Bangladesh (pictured on left) said, "We are all very happy to receive the care packs from the children. I am experiencing this for the first time and proud of what the children did for us.”

We'd like to thank the Chua Chu Kang Town Council for facilitating this connection between the students and the estate cleaners. Hear what the children have to say about the experience of going through the interactive lessons and the opportunity to express their gratitude to the estate cleaners.
